The Captain
Born in Brooklyn's famed Coney Island and son of an immigrant from the Island of Malta, I learned to fish around the age of 10
from my Dad. On Malta, many meals came from the sea. When he arrived here in 1926, he headed straight for the sea (I have pictures
of him on the "Brooklyn I" - they are now up to the "Brooklyn VII") He brought me along on a few party/head boats starting with "The
Chief" which left at 10am. Often, we fished for Fluke and brought home the pool as well as dinner. Only now do I realize the wisdom
of my dad taking me on a boat that left at 10 am! In my teens, I wandered from fishing, only to return when my first son, Jonathan
was born. Today, fishing is an integral part of my life. My favorite fishing is Tuna fishing. But, mostly, as long as I wet a line,
I'm happy (oh, and let me have my cigar!) Before the MegaByte, I had a 23 foot Renken. I fished often with a close friend, Jimmy.
Jimmy used to call me "Captain John". Shortly after I purchased the Rampage, Jimmy fell victim to a heart attack. In respect for his
treasured memory, I got my Captains License. If you fish the North East, give me a call on the radio (78), I'll be glad to talk to
you.
Mid 2008 I got certified for OW diving. So I will be adding diving to my long list of things to do on the MEGABYTE.
