The MegaByte

A 1987 31 foot Rampage. Purchased by Captain John in 1992 from writer and sports reporter Nick Karas. Originally powered with Volvo TAMD41A, repowered in 2000 with a pair of brand new Volvo engines equipped with Super Chargers. In 2002, she was launched with new four-bladed props. We cruise around 22 knots and can reach 30 knots empty. Fully loaded, top speed is around 26 knots. With all the latest electronics... In search of Tuna, we have left the dock at 3:00 am & returned after midnight! Not always with great results, but we have fun & we get to see sights that others can only dream of. We have seen whales, dolphin, swam with huge hammer head sharks (quite by accident), & turtles. We enjoy catching all kinds of inshore & offshore species of fish. We release most of the fish we catch & only keep what we eat. Fish we have caught include, Inshore: Fluke, Sea Bass, Black Fish, Striped Bass, Blue Fish, Weak Fish, Bonita, Little Tunny, Flounder, Mackerel, herring, Blow Fish, Porgy, Trigger Fish, & many other. Offshore we have caught: Bluefin, Yellowfin & Skipjack tuna, we hooked & lost a White Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Mako Shark, Blue Shark, Horse Eye Jack, Amber Jack, Cod Fish, Pollock, and many others. All of these fish were caught here in the North East Atlantic, within 150 miles of New York City, and there are many more that can be caught, that we have not yet caught, but we are working on it.
