Fish: Sea Bass/ Black Fish/Fluke #: ?/?/? Largest:
Location: AB reef & Rockaway Reef
Crew: Bob & Ronnie
Fishing was very slow today. The summer doldrums seem to be starting early. We first tried for Fluke and managed only a pair of skates in an hour, so we switched over to to do a bit of reef fishing. We hit it good, but not much in the way of size. A rough guess would put it at about 25 seabass, 20 blackfish & countless bergalls. Although many of the blacks and seabass were keepers, we only kept those that were big enough that we didn't even need the ruler. After tiring of this (and going through a 1/2 bushel of clams) we switched back to fluke this time to the west. Drifting amongst the structure we lost a ton of rigs (including one that Ronnie cut off with a knife!!!) but we had pretty good fluke action. A few were nice size too.
I returned the next day with a couple of kids, Kelsey & Romie, but the seas were quite rough and too much for the kids, so after taking 5 fluke, we trolled our way in and took a bluefish of about 8 pounds.
