Once again the summer doldrums seem to be upon us (how much more mileage can I get out of this excuse?). We met early and found ourselves fishing by 8am. There were only 3 other boats fishing the area, something I consider a blessing, not a problem. Soon, we had a few fish here and there. By days end, we managed 16 fish, most around 10 pounds, 2 were very small-perfect for shark bait. 16? or 15... hmmm, well, one Bob had boat side and with Allan at the gaff, after 8 failed attempts, Allan managed to gaff the line and the fish swam of laughing all the way home. Bob wasn't laughing. :)
One of the bright spots of the day was when a large pod of Dolphins (the mammals) Came swimming through the area. These were the large dark gray dolphins and there seemed to be at least 20 of them in the group. It was a great sight.
We quit early because of the holiday & got the shark bait we wanted for our Saturday trip. A bit to big, but we had enough for hook baits and chum.
