Quite honestly, I enjoyed eating that last BBQ Fluke I made so much I needed to have more. So after a quick vote, we went fluking. Well, we don't fluke all that much and are not up on the latest hot spots. So we tried a few of the old and most popular spots with mixed results. It was a slow lazy day. And although the wind blew a bit, it was mostly out of the North so the seas were very calm. Interestingly, I had most of my bigger fish taken on a Berkley's Power Worm I set up on a high hook looking for that stray weakfish. I noticed Ronnie was doing OK with a strip of fluke belly from the dark side. Sometimes white is not the way to go.
On another interesting point, Bob actually foul hooked a huge squid. About as big as anything you get in a restaurant. A while later, Allan had one too. After playing with them in a bucket for about an hour, Bob sliced one up and it worked like magic making Bob high hook in the last 2 or 3 hours of the day. Otherwise I think Ronnie would have been high hook with Bob having the commanding lead for skates! Allan had the big fish of the day with Bob a close second.
Back at the dock, there was the weigh-in for the NCCH Chris Larkin Memorial Tournament. I must admit, other boats did MUCH better than we did. Interestingly, we weren't all that far from them. In fact at one point I saw a small fleet where they were and thought about going but for some reason we stayed. Oh well, they had better fish, he had more fun watching Ronnie torture Allan!
