What kind of Tuna you ask? How about BLACKFIN! Yep, boated 3 and lost 4 sails that hit on wire line. Where? Like I said, north of the California light house. That would be the North East side of Aruba. The windy side where 4 footers are considered a calm day. We had a few 10 footers mixed in on the "Bobby C", a 29 foot Lurs. With it's twin desels, we left the dock around 6 am and by false dawn we were hitting the rough NE coast. About 1/4 mile off we were in 200 foot depths. Then the captain decided to try the canyon, so we went off 2 more miles (yes, only 2 more miles) and found ourselves in 800 foot plus water! A bit more inside and the fish were all over the ballyhoo. We lost 4 hits on a deep lure run off a Penn 50 International rigged with wire and a very heavy jet head over a tuna-belly. Captain Bobby said it was most likely a sail fish. PS. The BlackFin was DELICIOUS!
