We didn't have much of a plan but I wanted to get in on more of that striper/bunker action. Although we found bunker they were obviously not being bothered by any preditors. They were simply swimming around and easily spooked. So, after 30 minutes of this Tommy got anxious and we tried for some fluke. Again, Tom was anxious so we stopped short of my destination and got only a few shorts (well, everyone but me, all I got was a bunch of sand sharks and skates-including 1 shandshark with a mako tooth in his tail!!!). Once we switched over to seabass things got better. We fished one of my spots in the rockaway reef (although this spot was smewhat secret lying outside of the reef, I'm sorry to say that trick is gone as the captain Mike came within 10 feet of me slowly and surely took down the numbers). Anyway the seabass cooporated even though we had a little trouble getting on the piece. Then Tommy, once again got bored and we went back to fluke. Although we scored 2 nice fat 19" fish, no keepers for the day. Then again I was trying some old fluke spots that used to produce 8 years ago. I guess there's a reason why no one fishes those spots still today.
