It was around 6:30 am & I was thinking about how good things were going when there was a loud crunch that came from just beneath my
feet. Suddenly all sorts of alarm lights were lighting up on the console. It was only a few belts but what a noise. We limped in
at 8 knots and the mechanic had everything fixed by 10. Ian decided he would spend the day doing more productive things. We dropped him
off and by 11:30 we were breaking Debbs inlet for the second time. With only half the day left we set our sights on the 3 sisters but
once we got there the water was too green. So 20 minutes later at a heading of roughy 310 we stopped in some nice blue water with a few
shearwaters spotted. But it was barren. Things were getting pretty low with the heat and lack of action until a rod finally went off.
It ended up being a nice 110 pound Mako. Minutes later a second fish was caught. They were both tagged and released as we had hoped for a
bigger fish but the heat got to us and by 4 we were headed back to the barn.
